Company car motorists 'looking to go green'
Company car drivers are increasing concerned about the environment, a new study shows.
In research carried out by Leasedrive Velo, it was revealed that seven out of ten respondents claim to be prepared to pay more money in order to be carbon neutral.
Of these people, 64 per cent claimed they are willing to pay more than £40 a year to help offset their vehicle's emissions, Fleet News reports.
Meanwhile, some 87 per cent of those surveyed reported a car's carbon emission rating would have an influence when they choose their next company vehicle.
One in ten claimed they would opt for a hybrid vehicle, with two per cent wanting a biofuel car. Just over two-thirds (68 per cent) are looking towards having a diesel-run automobile, while about a fifth want a petrol vehicle.
Roddy Graham, commercial director for the Leasedrive Velo Group, said: "Clearly company car drivers are more aware than ever before of their green responsibilities and are not only willing to trade down next time to a company car with lower CO2 emissions, but are also prepared to back this up by becoming carbon neutral drivers."
The study could be of interest to those company car managers looking to take out multi-fleet insurance.
Meanwhile, a recent study by Swinton showed that sales executives are increasingly opting for more economic models when selecting company cars.
