Fleet managers 'choosing petrol cars over diesel'
Petrol-run cars are becoming more popular among fleet managers.
Such is the assertion of GE Capital Solutions, which reveals that just over one in ten such professionals questioned have seen an increase in the number of petrol-powered vehicles within their fleets over the last 12 months.
Meanwhile, three per cent of respondents claimed there has been a rise in diesel-run automobiles, with electric-powered and hybrid vehicle adoption also becoming more popular.
Rich Green, managing director at GE Capital Solutions' Fleet Services, said: "Fleets are going to back to basics and examining their fuel choices.
"One fact that is becoming increasingly influential is the significant price difference between petrol and diesel."
He added that as the latter is now so expensive, fleet managers are now finding that the fuel economy on a diesel-run car must be "significantly better" in order to justify purchasing such a vehicle.
The comments made could be of interest to those on the search for fleet insurance.
In other news, a recent study by Leasedrive Velo revealed that about one in five company car drivers would opt for a petrol-run car when choosing their next vehicle, while a tenth want a biofuel model.
