Workers 'often dread Christmas party'
Employers should be aware that the annual Christmas party is not always something that their staff are looking forward to.
Such is the assertion of Jo Hemmings, a behavioural psychologist, who reports that a significant number of employees feel they have to attend such a function, as otherwise it would look bad if they did not attend.
Ms Hemmings stated workers may often feel like a fish out of water at Christmas events and are under pressure to look good.
"People feel guarded when they're there and it doesn't feel like a party," she claimed.
However, she reported that despite the large amount of money spent by companies on festive celebrations, the people who organise them and those who head a company "aren't always aware as they should be about the dread people have about the parties".
Such news might interest those searching for business insurance cover.
Her comments follow research from the British Greyhound Racing Board which showed more than a third (36 per cent) of Britons finds their Christmas party to be boring.
